Our Little Lady

Our little Adalyn Losee is here! She was born on January 27th at 5:20 pm. Labor and delivery went well and she is a good little sleeper and eater. We were VERY surprised to see her with so much dark hair. Both of my other two had very little blond hair. Gavin and Kyson were very excited to come and meet her. Gavin was a sweetie and sat next to me the whole time, Kyson saw her, thought she was great, but was more interested in running around. We are so excited to have her here and safe!

We FINALLY got snow! The first thing the boys wanted to do this morning was put on their snowsuits and go play. They stayed out there for over an hour playing, and then went out later in the afternoon and spent another half hour out there. The snow is almost gone, but they had a great time while it lasted!

Homework

Every morning I sit down and do homework with Gavin. Some days he doesn't mind, and some days he has a fit. Usually if Bear is involved, Gavin is more willing to do it. Here he is reading to Bear.

Baby!

Nope, no baby yet...but since it is Baby Month for us, we decided to get a Baby Grand!

I have had a great little piano for a few years now and it was perfect to get me started into teaching piano. But, a couple months ago, I had a couple of keys go out. They can be easily fixed, but we thought it was time to get something a little nicer since I spend almost everyday teaching on it. Casey did a lot of researching and everyday kept showing me more pianos online to look at (I think he wanted it more then I!) We found this one, tested it out, and I loved how it felt and sounded, so we got it! We have all enjoyed playing on it, including Casey!

Casey is going to hate that I put his picture in! He wants to learn a song, so here he is practicing the first little part.

We are almost to the end! Just a couple more weeks and our little lady will be here! I feel ready physically, and I'm almost ready in all other ways. Gavin is really excited and keeps saying "I can't wait for the baby to come!" and "Why is it taking so slow!" He has been a very patient brother, and hopefully the excitement will stay AFTER the baby gets here! Kyson just likes to play with the baby equipment. The other day he found the baby tub and got in it and started to fake snore, thinking it was a place to sleep. When I told him it was for the baby to take a bath in, he insisted on taking a bath in it, and got really sad when I said he couldn't.

Here I am near the end...puffy face and all!

Christmas 2011 Success!

We had a wonderful Christmas! It is so much fun to see the boys get older each year and enjoy each Christmas tradition a little more. Gavin has been asking for an excavator since August and has been a very patient boy waiting until Christmas to get it. It was so fun to see his face light up when he saw it!

Kyson got Legos from Santa. He is our little builder and can sit and build for hours.

This has been Kyson's favorite gift. This was a last minute grab at the store a couple days before Christmas. He loves to "shoop" things, and so all day he would go from Casey and I and "shoop" us. He doesn't know how to cock it, so he would go to Casey and say "I shoop mom!" and make Casey cock the gun and then he'd go shoot me. And then he'd turn to me and say "I shoop dad!" and make me cock the gun so he could go shoot Dad.

My sister Autumn had her baby on December 20, just in time for Christmas. I have already fallen in love with this little girl and her chubby cheeks and beautiful lips. Congrats Autumn and Doug!

I am not a very crafty person. I appreciate crafty people, and wish I had the talent and patience to be one of them. One thing I have always wanted to learn how to do is sew. When my ward was offering a beginning quilting class, I thought I'd try it out, and I am so glad I did! I learned how to sew a basic quilt and made a table runner. I am now working on a quilt for Kyson's bed and can't wait to show you how that turned out!

We had a special visitor come to my parent's ward Christmas party! Gavin was so excited to visit with Santa and tell him what he wants for Christmas. Kyson was scared of the nice old man, and clung to me so hard!

Temple Square

We went to Temple Square one evening and enjoyed the beautiful lights. We went on a good night where the weather wasn't bad and we were bundled up good so we weren't cold. Kyson was so good and sat in his stroller most of the time. I kept worrying that he was too cold, but every time I asked him if he was okay, he'd give me a little smile and say "yep!" Gavin loved running with his cousins and seeing the lights. When it was time to go home he got really upset and wanted to stay. It didn't help we saw the "train" (Trax) and he wanted to ride on them. I told him next time we go we'll take Trax. So, for days after he kept asking when we were going to go again! Sorry Gavin, probably not til next year!

My Potty Trained Boy!

I now have no kids in diapers! (for 2 more months) The magic trick for this kid is candy. He couldn't have his Halloween candy unless he went potty. 1 for pee, 2 for poop. It worked! We are pretty proud of this little boy! Here are some cute faces of Kyson:

Yes, this costume might look a little familiar, because it is Gavins 3RD YEAR IN A ROW wearing it! He insisted on being the frog, again. Good thing he's cute in it, and he has a cute little brother who was his twin this year.

We got to visit Gavin's school and see his class, hear them sing Halloween songs, have a parade and enjoy some snacks.

I think all month long Gavin has been asking me when we can go "trick or treating". He was so excited! Kyson was my little pig and had to eat as much candy as possible.

Hee Haw Farms

Floyd and Barbara had free tickets to Hee Haw Farm, so we were the lucky ones who got to go with them. Gavin and Kyson enjoyed some of the fun things they had there including the slide...

The most exciting part was the "Great Pumpkin Drop" they do. They dropped huge pumpkins (like 900 lbs) from off the top of a crane and dropped them on a car, barrels and that pool. It was pretty exciting (we felt a little white trash). Gavin and I even got to take a pumpkin to the top of the crane and drop down onto the ground too. It was a lot of fun!

I must live in a house of boys, because we have another new gross creepy crawly friend, and this one is here to stay. Casey had a tarantula before we got married, but sadly it died on our honeymoon. He has recently wanted to get another one, and he cousin had found one and we were the lucky ones to end up with it. Gavin and Kyson think it is great, and I'm fine with it as long as Casey takes care of it.

Gavin found a new friend to entertain himself for the last few days (gave poor Bear a break!) I was out back weeding and the boys were playing. I pulled some weeds and under the weeds was this little guy. He slid between some rocks and Gavin kept telling Kyson to get him. Eventually he came out and after some screaming from Gavin, Kyson and their mom, Gavin was able to pick it up and throw it in a bucket I had. He was so excited and had to have the snake by his side. We did finally let him go, because I was too scared the snake would get out out of his cage and get lost in my house! Now Gavin is going outside constantly trying to find his snake again. If this little snake is smart, he would be long gone.

The Best Babysitters

We have found the best babysitters, and they don't charge us when we need them! Their names are Bear, Belle and Emma. One evening the kids were running around, being crazy, and Casey and I were trying to relax after a long day. All of a sudden it was quiet, and I thought, "oh dear, what are they getting into now?" I found them in their room, laying in their beds, lights off, with their dogs. They can do this for a good hour. We have such good dogs to put up with these boys!

We have this broken computer, and for some reason Gavin thinks it is his now. The other day he said, "Oh, I got to go get my computer to play my game!" A few minutes later he shows up with his computer, plugs it in and pretends to play a game.

We love our little Kyson, but he is always getting into something! He is so funny and is my little assistant when I am doing my make-up in the morning. He gets out my lip stick and my mascara and will open them up and give them to me when I am ready. I thought it was harmless, because he didn't care to put them on...until I left him alone for a few minutes.

Water

Gavin loves anything that has water. He is always trying to pull the hose out to the sandbox to fill a hole or trench he made. When he is at Grandma and Grandpa Spence's, he likes to fill up their pond. At Grandma and Grandpa Losee's, he likes to fill up their sandbox. Well, the other day, he hit the jackpot! The stream at Casey's parent's house fills up in the fall, and so now there is water there. He was so excited and got to work to build a dam. Such a boy!

Cold Mornings

Since the nights have gotten cooler, Casey likes to open all the windows in the house to let the cool air in. It makes it pretty cold in the mornings, and I always get in trouble from Gavin. "Mom, I tell you not to open the windows! It's too cold!" Here they are this morning snuggling in their blankets as Gavin waited for his ride to pick him up for preschool. I just thought they were so cute.

We just found out this week that we are expecting a little GIRL! We are so excited, well, I am so excited, Casey is so nervous. I thought for sure we were having a boy because this pregnancy was just like my other two. We even had a boy name picked out. Now, we have no idea what this lady's name will be! My sister-in-law just had a girl, and my sister Autumn will be having a girl a month before I am, so I am excited for these little girls to grow up together!

Pregnancy has gone well. I am glad to be out of the yucky stage. I hated not being able to enjoy food like I usually do. I miss my daily nap now that school is in, but I do fell like I have more energy now.

Here I am at 20 weeks. I broke out the maternity clothes this week, and it feels nice to be able to breathe again!

It is so much fun to be a teacher and finally have one of my children join the school world. I do wonder what kind of a student he is, but he comes home happy every day and is already learning so much, so I hope he is doing good for his teacher!

And we can't forget my little side-kick. He's going to miss his little buddy for a few days of the week, but I love being able to spend time with just him.

My birthday was on the 16th of August, day before meetings and school started, so I wanted to spend it all day with my family. I never can get Casey to Thanksgiving Point with me, so that is what we did. We visited the Farm Country with probably about everyone else in Utah Valley because it was $2 Tuesdays. I probably should have chose another part of Thanksgiving Point, but it was still fun and the boys loved seeing the animals.

That evening we went up the canyon for dinner. It was so nice a cool up there. It was a wonderful day!

We went fishing to Highland Glen park and Gavin caught this little beauty. He was so excited, and wanted to take it home to eat. But as you can see, it was pretty small, so we let it go. I think we found ourselves a little fisherman.

Swimming Lessons

I put Gavin in swimming lessons and he loved it! Every day he would tell me, "Mom, when it is time for swimming lessons, say 'Gavin, lets go to swimming lessons!'". He wanted to make sure I never forgot! When we would get there, he always tried to find his teacher, and wouldn't get in until his teacher acknowledged he was there. He does really good following his teacher. And when it is time to go, he has to make sure his teacher says "bye" to him.

Highland Glen Park

Hidden just a few minutes away from our house is this pond that we love to go and visit. We usually go to feed the ducks, but one afternoon we tried doing some fishing and taking the kids out on a raft. It was a lot of fun! It is something we'll have to do again!

Grandma's Buggy

My Grandma is moving in with my parents, so my mom and dad have been busy going out to Tooele to clean her house and get it ready to be sold. I went out to help one day and we found this little gem. It use to be my Grandma's when she was a baby. Kyson hopped right on in and wanted to get pushed around.

Huck Finn Days

We love Huck Finn Days during Pleasant Grove's Strawberry Days Festivals. Gavin loves fish, so this is the highlight of the year!

When it was time to bring in all the fishing poles, and go out to catch the fish with nets, this is what Gavin looked like most of the time. He would get so frustrated he wasn't catching a fish. Some nice girl told him she would catch a fish for him, and that calmed him down.
This is his face when this sweet girl brought him the fish she caught. After becoming attatched to this (dead) fish, Gavin decided he didn't want to eat it. He'd go check on it constantly, and finally when it started stinking, he said it was okay to throw it away. This fish lived a very satisfying life making a 4 year old boy very happy.

Viva Las Begas

We went to "Las Begas" (as Gavin says it) last week. We spent most of the time there in our swim suits hanging out at the pool. We did visit the strip once, but almost died of the 105 degree weather, so we tried to stay by the pool as much as possible!

They had a lot of different pools. We mostly played at a smaller pool that was empty most of the time, but we did spend time at the big pool, where there was a large kiddie area, the kiddie pool and MY favorite, there was a lazy river. I could spend hours there riding around on the tubes! Gavin learned to swim (with his floaties) on this trip, and so that made it so much fun seeing him bobbing out in the water.

In the Bellagio they have the biggest chocolate fountain that was pretty neat to see. We enjoyed a chocolate crepe there.

Ditching yardwork

One Saturday afternoon, we were planning on working in the yard, but we ditched that and enjoyed the afternoon at Thanksgiving Point Gardens. A much better afternoon then yardwork!

Gavin has a new job...vacuuming. I love it, he loves it. While I am going around mopping the kitchen, or picking up toys, making beds, etc. he is vacuuming! It has cut my cleaning time down about a half an hour! I love his little side-kick following him around with his little vacuum.

Zoo 2011

Every spring we take a trip to the zoo. It is one of our favorite things to do as a little family. We didn't want to deal with the crowds and go on a Saturday or wait for summer, so I took off work one day and we went! It was a great day to go, the weather was perfect and most of the animals were out.

Gavin and Kyson loved the elephant. If you ask what an elephant says to Kyson, he does a pretty good elephant!

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend! I started it off by going shopping in Park City with my girlfriends and then spending the night in Midway with them. We had so much fun talking and eating out, shopping and oh, talking some more. It has been a long time since I have stayed up so late! Thanks Stacy for putting this together!

Gavin turned 4 on Sunday! But, we got to celebrate it all weekend.

On Saturday we fed the ducks at Highland Glen Park. I love having this beautiful pond only minutes away from home!

**The BIG day!!**
I loved seeing his cute little face light up whenever I said "Happy Birthday Gav!" He has been waiting for this day for a long time.

Whenever I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he always said "Train track, the one that goes wooop!" He has been eyeing this train track that is on a Thomas movie he watches. It has a little zipline, so that is where the "wooop!" comes from. Here he is with Bash, one of the trains from the movie.

He and Kyson have a little system set up. Gavin sits at one end and puts the log through the logger, and then send the train on to Kyson who put more logs into the train.
I didn't know if he'd like this present, because everytime I asked him if he wanted a big bike, he'd say "No, I too scared". But he loved it and rides it really good!
We had Casey's family over for dinner and cake and ice cream. Here are most of them out in the sandbox. Gavin loves his cousins!

He is so cute when it is time to blow out the candles, he sings right along with us.
We continued our celebrating on Monday with my family. He got some fun games and puzzles from both sets of Grandparents, so it has been fun to play those with him.

Midway Vacation

We took a much needed vacation to Midway this past week. My parent's got the condo for Spring Break, but they had their own trips to take, so us kids got to use it! We spent it relaxing, swimming, eating and enjoying each other's company.

The first night and following day the boys spent it like this:

Kyson learned to sleep without a crib. We brought our pack and play just in case, but he ended up doing really good on the floor. He is a mover though! I'd find him in the craziest positions!
While we were eating out one night, a lady thought these two were twins. They are a year apart, and one has brown eyes, the other has blue, so I don't see it, but they sure are cute. Bailey came to sit on Kyson's lap.

Kyson is such a funny boy. He has turned into such a snacker. I have found him many times getting his own snacks. Here he is today getting some chex mix. I love how he got out his own bowl to put his chex mix in.
Here he is a few days ago dumping out his cereal, and only picking out the marshmallow pieces. With a smile like that, how can I be mad?

Best Husband in the World

I have my own little helper, so no more weeding for me!! I am looking foreword to the day when my kids are old enough to go out and help me in the yard, or help me in the house. Today I found Gavin out with his little spade digging up the dirt in the garden. I told him to get all the green stuff, so he started going around and getting all my weeds out. Thanks Gav!

Meet Taco. Gavin LOVES Taco. He knows that anytime we go to Grandma Deana's and Grandpa Bill's, he gets to see Taco. If it was up to him, he'd take Taco home...good thing it isn't up to him! He loves to have him sit on his shoulder, and would do it all day. Kyson loves Taco too. "Gaco" as he says it.

This is the first of many posts I'll have about Thanksgiving Point Gardens. We love to go here. Saturday was the first day it opened, and the weather was okay, so we had to go! I brought the stroller for Kyson to ride in, but he insisted on walking THE WHOLE WAY. It is a huge Garden, so he walked a lot!

He doesn't like the paparazzi taking his pictures...

My cousin, Charlene, came to visit. Gavin and Kyson LOVED her.

Of course, we have to roll down the big hill when we are all done!

Hopefully next time it will be a little warmer, and more colorful!

Our puppies are really loved in this house. They are so lucky, they get attention, even when they don't want it! Today I was asking Gavin, "Where is Kyson?" and he said, "He's downstairs, squishing Emma." They get "squished" quite often. They are such good dogs to put up with it!

Gavin has been into snuggling lately. He loves to just lay in his blankets and watch what is going on (usually Kyson...running around being crazy). The other day after dinner, he turns to Casey and said "Dad, let's go snuggle." His little snuggle buddy has been Bear. Poor Bear. He gets dragged around wherever Gavin wants to go. He is such a good dog.

Here are my cute boys snuggling one morning after their bath. They both needed their blankets, their stuffed animals (Gavin's is his puppy and Kyson has a little Care Bear he calls "Baby") and, of course, Bear.

2 Year Old Boy!

My sweet little Kyson is now 2! Kyson use to be this cautious little boy who was quiet and unsure of new situations. Not anymore! Kyson is our little dare devil! One of his favorite things to do is jump off of things. He doesn't care how high up they are, he just jumps.

He is a little imitator. He especially loves to imitate his brother. He LOVES Gavin. He can't say Gavin's name very clearly yet, but whenever Gavin walks into the room he says "Dadi"!

His vocabulary is growing, but it is hard to understand him. Blankie, Stinky, and Drink sound the same. He can say "George" clearly though. He loves Curious George. Some other words he says good (but not perfect) are: mommy, daddy, Braxtie (Braxton), baby, papa (for Grandma and Grandpa), potty, Jesus, thank you, please, cheese, drink, blankie, stinky, bye bye, socks, shoes.

He is getting close to being potty trained. He is defiantly has a different personality then Gavin. When I was potty training Gavin, he never fought me when it was time to sit on the toilet, but Kyson has fought me from day 1! If he doesn't want to sit, he won't! He is doing better though!

He has no problems going to nursery. He loves to go, which is very different from Gavin. Gavin has always had a hard time. The other day at church, Gavin had to hold both of our hands as he was going to primary, and Kyson refused to hold my hand and went running into his class.

I always say "When he's good, he's very good, and when he's bad he's very bad". He can be the sweetest little boy, but then have these aweful tantrums when he's mad. I guess that is part of being a 2 year old!

Every night he has to say "Night" to Casey and Gavin. If I try to put him to bed with out saying "Night" he lets me know!

He loves his 2 uncles. Uncle Logan and Uncle Darin. He says Logan's name really clearly it sounds like "Wogie". And he loves to "shoot" Uncle Darin. Sometimes he gets them mixed up and calls Uncle Darin "Wogie" and tries shooting Uncle Logan.

One funny thing is that he loves to get his hair done. He'll be my stylish little guy.

He loves the dogs and can say each of their names clearly. His favorite is Emma. He also can tell each one apart, which can be pretty tricky because they all look a like.

I can't believe we have had this little terror for 2 years, but we love him, so we'll keep him!

Kyson's Big Day!

Kyson turned 2 yesterday! We had fun celebrating his day. When Casey got home from work we had him open his presents from us. He is a BIG Curious George fan, so we got him a puzzle and a Curious George and some Curious George books.

The other day Gavin and Kyson were playing in Kyson's room. All of a sudden I heard Gavin yelling, "The snow is gone!! No snow on the sandbox!" He had opened the blinds and had saw that the snow had finally melted off of his sandbox. Even though it was still really cold outside, he insisted on going out and playing in it. Oh, how I miss the warm weather and being able to throw the kids outside and let them play! They can play for hours outside!

Dad's big helpers

Casey has been working on a few projects lately and he is sure to have his little midgets by his side. Here is Gavin helping him fix the car. He sat there and mostly complained about how cold he was, but he wasn't going to leave Dad's side.Casey was putting in a storm door and of course there were a lot of tools out. Kyson got his tools and was right along side him helping him.
We had to make sure puppy was protected and wasn't going to get hurt, so puppy had to wear a hard hat.
Gavin couldn't be tricked by the toy tools, he had to use the real tools. He would go around with a screwdriver and tried unscrewing any screw he could see. We've had to go around and fix a few loose screws.

Things that make me laugh

Here are a few things that have made me laugh lately:

Christmas all over again. We visited the shop where Casey works and Gavin found these 5/16 threaded inserts they make and got to bring some home. He was so excited and played with them and even had to sleep with them. He'll be our little machinest some day.
And lastly, my favorite thing right now is Kyson's "I'm in trouble" face. If Casey or I get mad at him, he gives us this face and sits there for a good 2 minutes just making this face. We try hard not to laugh.

Beautiful St. George

Over Christmas break we went to St. George with my family and enjoyed some time away from the cold weather and had fun going SWIMMING and SHOPPING. Casey is tired of me bragging about my $3 jeans I got at Downeast, but I was pretty excited about that, as well as my other wonderful bargains! Gavin and Kyson loved being there with cousins, Grandma and Grandpa and Uncles and Aunts. Thanks mom and dad for the wonderful trip!

I think this is the first year I wish Christmas would stay just a little longer. Usually I am ready for Christmas to be here, and be done. But this year it seemed extra special, and I didn't want it to end. I guess a part of it is because I have these two darling boys who seemed to love every minute of it and I had so much fun seeing them get so excited. I started putting some decorations away today and Gavin was getting mad because he wanted Christmas to stay. Well, here are some of the fun things we did:

CHRISTMAS EVE:
The night before Christmas Eve, Gavin and Kyson get to open one present, which is their pajamas. We wear our pajamas all the next day and watch Christmas movies. I love the lazy day!

CHRISTMAS DAY:
We woke up around 7:30 hearing Gavin in his room playing with his cars he got the night before. We told him Santa had came and he went running down the stairs. He was so excited for his truck and Thomas presents. He didn't like the boring old clothes I got him. Kyson loved the easle and lego table. First thing he did when we got downstairs was he started coloring on his board.

Gavin loves his hamster. It is a girl, and her name is Friend.

We then went to Floyd and Barbara's and had a great time with family.
We were so excited to give Floyd and Barbara their presents. Casey built Floyd a computer that he has wanted for a while. He was so excited.
Barbara is reading stories to the grandkids.

We feel SO blessed to be able to give our little family a Christmas they can hopefully remember. We are so blessed to have Gavin and Kyson in our lives. We are so blessed to have wonderful family and friends who love and support us. We are so blessed for jobs that support us. We are so blessed for a beautiful home. We wouldn't have any of these things if it wasn't for our Heavenly Father who loves enough to bless us every day in our life. We hope you all had a good Christmas!

A Band Aid can fix anything

We have BB gun holes in random places in our house thanks to the previous owners. Gavin was so funny today and said he would "fix" the hole in the hall closet door. That's our little engineer, always trying to fix things! He was pretty proud of himself.

I love the day after Thanksgiving because I love going out Black Friday shopping and I love to get all the decorations out for Christmas! I had fun putting all the decorations up, especially because we have more room to put everything. I have most of my Christmas shopping done. Our Halloween Week

We had so much fun celebrating Halloween all week long! Gavin and Kyson were as cute as can be! I had a ninja costume for Gavin this year, but he insisted on being a frog again. He looks so cute in it, I couldn't say no. Kyson was a cute little pumpkin.

We started off the week going to the Fall Carnival at my school. They got to ride the swings, fish for candy, hocky and more.

We took a break from Halloween and enjoyed a little Christmas weather! We had so much snow! Kyson just liked to eat it. Gavin liked to throw a snowballs and make snow angels. Snow was all gone that afternoon, but it was a fun little change. I can't wait for more!

We tried a new thing this year that was SO MUCH fun! There is a home in Lindon that has a huge train track set up all over their property. They turned it into a "Haunted Train" and Gavin loved every minute of it. Kyson on the other hand kept saying "All done". Maybe next year he'll like it more.

I love Halloween because it is fun to see my kids enjoy it, not because we have to dress up! I hate dressing up, but I have to do it for school. I dressed up in Casey's soccer clothes and it was a hit! Here is my other half, Ruth Bourne.

Trick-or-treating! I was so excited to take these boys out trick-or-treating! They loved it. We went and visited a few family and friends first, and Gavin started getting the hang of things, and kept saying "Lets go do more trick-or-treat!" We also went around our neighborhood and came home with quite a stash!

Bear Lake

Over Fall Break I went with my family to our condo in Bear Lake. It was so much fun to be there with almost everyone. We were missing a few husbands, because even though the rest of us have work/school off, not everyone does, so Casey, Doug and Bob were stuck at home working. We missed them, but still enjoyed being with family.

On our way up to Bear Lake, we stopped off at the Children's Treehouse Museum in Ogden. Gavin of course found the trains, and could have spent the whole time there...

We did many fun things at the condo including swimming...
"I not scared mom!"-Gavin (he was so proud he could walk around without floaties, and then he slipped and was "scared" and had to put the floaties on. Kyson was so cute walking around in his.

We spent a lot of time at the park...thanks to Uncle Logan or Grandpa Bill who would take them all there!

Learning

Over the last few weeks I have been seeing Gavin learn so much! I try to catch it on video or camera so I remember these things. So, this post is mainly for me.

This first one is just funny. He saw Casey lifting weights, and so one day on his own he sat down to lift weights too...he's so funny.
One morning they went a little book crazy and pulled out most of their books. But they did sit and read for a while.
The following videos are:
1. Gavin saying the letter and sounds A-D. We try to do a letter a week. I am so impressed how good he is learning them! We do a little sign with each sound to help him learn the sounds, so that is why you see him do little signs.
2. I threw this in, because Kyson has been learning his different body parts.
3. Here is a video of Gavin "reading". You can't understand him very well because I couldn't get too close or else he would get mad at me, but he is saying what is happening in each picture.
4. Gavin and Kyson always see me give my piano and violin students candy if they practice. They always beg for candy too, and I say "when you practice." So, one day Gavin hurry and got his violin out and "practiced" and then said "I want my candy!" Here is a video of what he knows. He can do the E and A string. When he's done you can kind of hear him ask for candy.

If you notice, Gavin has a VERY grumpy face. It was pretty hot, and the kids were not too happy about having to sit, while the trampoline was just right there!

Peaches!!

We have peaches!! I LOVE peaches, and so do my boys. Since they saw us picking the peaches, they feel that whenever they go outside, they get to pick peaches too. So I often find them with peaches in their hands, and peach juice running down their chins. Yesterday I sent them out to play in the backyard, and I went upstairs to do something. I came back down a few minutes later, and there was Kyson, hiding in the corner, eating his peaches.

Trucks and Trains

Gavin's life revolves around trucks and trains...as you all know. We have been having construction at the end of our street. They took out a lot of homes, and are widening the street. This has been the most exciting thing for Gavin. Every day we take a bike ride to the end of the street to see what the trucks are up to.

I was so impressed with Gavin! He made this train track all by himself (minus the waterfall part). It's pretty creative!

Gavin got out ALL his trucks and cars and lined them up on the stairs. He insisted that they stay there until I came home from work. When I walked in the door, I heard him calling for me, "Mom! Come look!" He was so proud of what he had done.
p.s...no, Kyson didn't wet his pants, he had just spilled water down himself!

What a boy needs

We were lucky to find a house with a sandbox. Not just a regular sandbox, but a BIG sandbox! I send the boys out there, and they can entertain themselves for a long time. They haul sand with their trucks, make holes, make hills, or Gavin's new thing is to make bridges. It is fun seeing their creativity and imagination work!

Kyson has recently gotten attached to this blanket. Whenever he gets tired, I find him walking around with it, or just laying in the middle of the floor with it. One morning I was cleaning the house, and he was laying on the floor with it, and I had to vacuum the floor, so I picked him up and laid him on my bed, and he stayed there for a good 15 minutes! But when those 15 minutes were up, he was running around like crazy again!

We really need the hot weather back so we can get out the pool again! Gavin loves playing in water, and found out that the sink is pretty fun to play in. He was pretty entertained here for a while playing in the water. His little side-kick was right there by his side the whole time!

Crazy Kyson

Kyson seemed to be a quiet little boy, but he has really shown his true colors lately! He is going to be our little comedian. He does funny things everyday that make me laugh. This is what he did today...

He is also talking more and more. On my birthday we were eating cake, and he would walk around to everyone and say "Pees" so he could get a bite of their cake. The first 2 videos show him saying please. I thought it was so cute I had to post it. The last video is just a little glimps of what he is like.

Summer comes to an end...

Well, summer is coming to an end. Today is my last day home. Tomorrow I start meetings and testing, and Wednesday is the 1st day of school. I am actually really excited for school to start. I love teaching, and this summer I took a couple classes, so I'm excited to make some changes in my teaching. We'll see how it goes. I'm teaching part-time again this year, and we are back on our crazy schedule with Casey working early mornings so he can be home by the time I leave.

I just had to post these pictures because I am so proud of Casey and I because of what we accomplished this summer! We have been working really hard at getting our yard to look green, and look how beautiful it is! When we moved in the grass was brown, weeds were everywhere, but Casey fixed the sprinklers, we brought in compost, and I was a crazy lady at 11:00 at night out there fertilizing in the middle of our summer storms. We got our garden planted late, so now we are finally getting some tomatoes and peppers, and I see little cucumbers, squash and zucchini on the vine. I'm so excited to eat those!

You can kind of see our next project. The grass around the sandbox is dead, so we have tilled it, and are going to bring in more dirt and plant grass. It looked much worse, we were going to take out about half of the back yard, but Casey got the sprinklers working and it revived most of the grass, just not what was around the sandbox.

Camping

We have had a busy summer, but wanted to squeeze a trip in before school started. Since we are trying to save our money, we decided to stay close to home, and camp out. We went up AF canyon and camped at Timpanooke. We origonally planned to stay 2 nights, but glad we only stayed 1! It was a lot of fun, but with blow-up mattress that had a hole in it, and 2 little boys and 3 dogs, sleeping wasn't the most enjoyable part!

We had fun hiking around, making good food, and relaxing by the fire. Gavin thought it all was so exciting. He was so excited before we left to go camping, he just sat in the car while we were packing up the car. When we got there he kept asking Casey to make a fire. He also loved hanging out in the tent. In the afternoon, we decided to go lay down, and have the boys play around in the tent. Gavin just laid in his sleeping bag next to us. He was so excited to go to bed that night. We thought we'd put Kyson down first, but Kyson kept crying, so I told Gavin it was his turn to go to bed. I thought he'd have a fit, but he went right in and laid down. He did play for a little bit, but stayed in his sleeping bag and quickly fell asleep (we purposely didn't give him a nap, hoping this would happen). The next morning when it was time to pack up and go, he got kept saying "I want to sleep 1 more!" Meaning he wanted to spend another night here. When Casey was taking down the tent, Gavin stood in front of it and said "No Dad!" He had too much fun, and when you ask him about his weekend, he gets so excited and his face gets so animated as he says "Camping! Fire! I sleep in tent!"

Kyson was a very messy child at the end of the trip! He LOVED running around getting dirty, and getting the dogs dirty. I kept finding the dogs with piles of dirt on their backs. Kyson tried to do everything he wasn't suppose to do. Getting into food, climbing on the dutch ovens, picking on the dogs, etc. He was my little cuddler though. When it was cold and we were sitting by the fire, he would just sit on my lap and watch the flames. He had a rough time when it was time for bed. He is use to his warm bottle of milk before bed, but he only got a cold bottle, and he didn't like that! He was also up at the crack of dawn, but he did lay in bed with us for a little bit.

Casey grew up backpacking in the Uintas and camping out. He has good memories of those trips. Some day when our kids get older, I hope to create those memories for them, but for now, we'll settle for a night at a campsite at Timpanooke.

Thanksgiving Point Children's Garden

We cooled off at the Children's Garden at Thanksgiving Point a couple weeks ago. Gavin and Kyson had so much fun playing in the water. It took Kyson a while to get in, but once he got in, I couldn't get him out!

Gavin Jay

hmmm...what to say about Gavin. What not to say about Gavin? This kid is really quite the character.

One thing I love about Gavin is that he puts his whole heart into everything. He doesn't just get a little excited over things, he gets VERY excited over things. Mostly trucks, but he also loves fish and trains and bugs and....I could go on and on.

He has the funniest facial expressions and I love seeing those big brown eyes sparkle.

He does have a fiesty side, and we do try to work on that.

He is going to have to work hard when it comes to learning at school. Things don't come naturally to him (he is just like his mom and dad), so he has to work hard to learn things. I am so impressed that in the last 2 weeks he has learned how to identify an A, make the sound "A" makes and write an A. We are now working on B, and he is doing good with that.

His middle name come from his dad and his Grandpa. What a perfect kid to have his dad and Grandpa's name, because he is just like them. He is the little engineer. He has to see how things work, and he likes to fix, or watch things get fixed. He loves watching machines and see them work.

We love our Gavin Jay and he sure keeps us busy!

My friend Kristine was over the other day and snapped this picture of Kyson, and I loved it, I had to post it for all to see! It really shows what our sweet little Kyson is like. He has really grown up over the last few weeks. He isn't a baby anymore! Here is a little update about Kyson:

-loves to chase dad and say "roar!"
-says many words only Casey and I understand including-ball, mom, dad, again, more, bottle, uh-oh, stinky
-is very careful when he is in a new situation. It takes him a while to warm up to new things
-loves Gavin. He likes to chase Gavin or have Gavin chase him.
-he isn't a perfect baby, he does have his tantrums when you take something away he wants
-loves to be held and snuggled
-is a great sleeper, still takes two naps a day and sleeps 12 hours a night
-eats anything! We were at Tucanos the other day, and he didn't make a peep the whole time because he was too busy eating!
-this is gross, but he loves to have the dogs give him kisses. We are trying to stop that...yuck

Splash Pad

We have been going to the Splash Pad a lot lately. Here are some pictures from the last couple of times we have been there. Gavin gets out there and runs and plays everywhere. Kyson usually just hangs out with me, but if it isn't very crowded, he will also get in. We went in the evening one day with Jess and Jared and Autumn and Doug, and it was so empty! We had a lot of fun, and I think we'll try to do that more often!

We love spending our hot summer days here. The water was pretty cold, but that didn't matter to Gavin, he was in the water the whole time. Kyson is a little more cautious and I was impressed he got this close to the water.

The other day Gavin was laying with Casey drinking his drink, and Kyson saw them. He climbed up there with them, then saw Gavin had a drink and then he quickly got down, grabbed his drink and climbed back up there. They love their Dad! I just thought it was cute.

Summer!

I pictured in my mind summer being a time I would be relaxing at the pool, playing in the yard, bike riding, etc. Summer is halfway over, and I still haven't been able to do all things I wanted to do, but things have finally calmed down a little bit, we are now able to start enjoying some of these things. Our new favorite place is the splash pad here in Highland. It is just a few minutes away, and it is free! Gavin loves to run and play in it, Kyson is a little more cautious, but will get out there if there aren't very many people around.
Our yard is finally coming together, so now we are able to get out and enjoy that too!

Cousins

Happy 4th!

We had a great 4th of July! It was a little cooler and windier this year, which was nice in some ways, and sad in others! At the balloon launch, only 3 balloons were able to blow up, and weren't even able to get in the air because it was too windy! We did have fun hanging out with family and enjoy our breakfast.

Later that evening we had a bbq at Casey's parent's and then headed over to the Jr. High to watch the fireworks.

Kyson is so cute and loves to hang out in the dog bed (usually with Emma)...this picture reminded me of Gavin when he was this age. He loved to do the same thing too, as you can tell from the next picture...

Strawberry Days

I get excited for Strawberry Days each year. There is always so many fun things to do, and the strawberries and cream are amazing! This year we closed on our house during this week, so we didn't do a few things we usually try to do, but we did enjoy ourselves at:

Huck Finn Days:
My mom and dad bought little fishing poles and nets for the kids to go fishing. Gavin loved playing with his fishing pole and when it was time to go out in the water to try to catch the fish with the nets, he ventured out there pretty far. Autumn was the lucky one this year to catch a fish! Ky just liked hanging out by the water!

This is the fish Autumn caught. Gavin LOVES fish, and really thought this was his to take home. He kept carrying the poor thing around.

Concert in the park:
We enjoyed a fun concert in the park put on by "Northfield" a band that is from my ward I grew up in. I use to babysit these guy's kids. They play fun popular music, so it was really enjoyable.

Baby Contest:
This cute little baby won the baby contest in the "Strawberry Days" category. Miss Bailey is such a sweet and cute baby. I think I'm her favorite Aunt. Every time she sees me, she gives me this big smile. (She probably does that to everyone else, but I'm still going to think it is just me!)

Zoo

We went with Alicia and her kids to the zoo a few weeks ago. They had so much fun! We got to see the baby elephant really close. And of course, we had to take the train ride, the highlight for Gavin.
