Water Boy!

We attempted the pool again today. I have little baby pool that I filled up with water and had it sit out in the sun for a couple of hours. By the time Gavin was ready to go out, it was nice and warm. He loved laying in the water and looking at the hanging stars. I even got a couple of giggles out of him!

(By the way, I didn't plan on having Belle in all these pictures, but she kept following me around)

Swimming...well, sleeping at the pool

We went to the American Fork pool today. It was Gavin's first time to the pool, and I was really worried how he would be. He really doesn't like the cold water at all! But he was fine being held as I walked around in the pool...as long as he didn't get wet! He slept most of the time, and I just held him and cooled off in the water...and hopefully got a little bit more of a tan!

Little Cowboy

This week was the famous Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. As part of the celebrations, they had a baby contest today. I dressed Gavin up as a little cowboy. He looked so cute! He didn't win, but it was fun getting him all dressed up!

Uh oh!

I am always buying Gavin new binkies because the dogs keep stealing his and playing or chewing on them. Today I caught Belle in the act of stealing it. One of these days I'll learn to keep them out of their reach!

Swimming...sort of

I bought a little swimming pool to go out in the yard so that Braxton, and some day Gavin can play out in it. I did try to put Gavin in it, but he didn't like the cold water!

Feeding the Homeless...

On Saturday we had a BBQ at our house. As we were all out back talking, we heard meowing. We went and checked where we heard the meowing and and just on the other side of our fence, there was a little nest and 3 little kittens were laying there. As the night went on, the kittens started venturing out to join the party. We kept trying to put them back and hiding the holes under the fence that they were sneaking through, but they always seemed to find another hole. That evening, two kitties decided to spend the night under our barbecuer. We couldn't find the mom, or the 3rd kitty. All Sunday the two kittens stayed on our back porch. We tried to feed them, but they didn't seem interested in what we could give them. After visiting family, we came home, and they were gone. Hopefully the mom cat found them and took care of them. This morning (Monday), I was out watering my plants, and the two kittens came wandering out from their nest. I tried feeding them bread soaked in milk, and they seemed to like that. Bear and Belle think that the kittens are pretty neat. They like to watch them and follow them around. I think the kittens will soon think that Bear is their mom, the way they are starting to get attatched to him!

Happy Father's Day, Casey!

Yesterday was an exciting day for us. It was Casey's first Father's Day, Gavin turned 2 months old, and it was our 3rd year anniversary. Poor Casey had to speak in church, but he did a wonderful job! We had a good afternoon visiting family and then spent the evening with each other watching a movie at home.

2 months!

Gavin is 2 months old tomorrow! It really goes by fast. This was an exciting month! He started smiling and cooing adn sleeping through the night! We just went in to the Doctor's and he weighs 10 lbs even and is 22 inches long. Just a tiny little guy! He had to get his shots, which was sad for me to hear! I have never heard his hurt cry before, and it was sad! He has been tired because of his shots, but hasn't been cranky, so that is nice.

I had to go to visit the Doctor as well. As he was checking my ear, he said, "There is something in your ear." I said that I thought I had an ear infection, and he said, "No, there is SOMETHING in your ear!" Come to find out, it is the back of my earring, INSIDE my ear! Don't ask me how it got there! He tried to flush it out and get it out with tweesers, and that hurt really bad! It got wedged in closer to my ear drum, so he didn't want to mess with it anymore and referred me to an Ears, Nose and Throat Doctor. I see him in a week and a half, so hopefully all goes well, and he doesn't make it painful!

A little remodeling...

Our house is only a couple of years old, but it is starting to need some remodeling. First of all, our entry way was just white carpet, so with people coming in and out all the time, the carpet near the door would constantly be dirty. I hated cleaning the carpet there almost weekly. The second thing that needed work was our kitchen. We had vinal, and it looked nice, but it was starting to look a little worn. And the third thing is our family room. We have these two little hellians, named Belle and Bear, who tend to make little potty messes in a specific spot in our family room, and so I am also tired of cleaning that carpet in there. So, for a while, I have been wanting to do something about those areas, but thought that it would cost too much money. We were visiting some friends who just finished putting Pergo (laminant flooring that looks like hard wood) down in their house. It looked really good, and it was actually was pretty cheap. So we thought that we'd put Pergo down on our whole main floor, consisting of the entry way, kitchen and family room. After thinking about it, we decided to do tile in the kitchen and entryway, because it would be a little more durable to wet and dirty feet coming in and out. We just finished the tile this week (yay!), and hopefully will start the Pergo soon in the living room. And yes, it was WE. I helped Casey with the tile in the kitchen, and it actually was pretty fun. If you want to spend quality time with your spouse, laying tile is a fun thing to do! haha!

Sleeping through the night

Yay! Gavin has started sleeping through the night! He has always been a good sleeper, sleeping about 6 hours, but I was reading in the book "Baby Wise" and it was saying that by 6-8 weeks, they should be sleeping 7-8 hours. So I decided to follow what the book says. It is big on schedules, which I have done since he was just a tiny baby. It is a 3 hour schedule, where he eats and plays for an hour, and then sleeps for 2 hours, and then it starts all over again. The other thing the book says is when you lay them down to take a nap, lay them down awake, and let them cry themselves to sleep. I didn't want to do that when he was little, because I enjoyed rocking him to sleep, but there were a couple of nights where he kept waking up, and I thought that maybe I'd try having him fall asleep on his own, to see if it would make a difference. It was hard the first time I put him down because he cried for a while. The book said that it doesn't hurt the baby to cry for 20 minutes, just go in and pat him on the back and talk to him, but don't get him out. When I went in to check on him, I turned him over on his tummy, because he likes to lay that way, and he immediatly went to sleep. Ever since then, I just put him on his tummy, he might fuss for a few minutes, but then he is out. We did that for a couple of days, and it didn't change his sleeping at night. But 2 nights ago, he slept for 9 hours and last night he slept for 8. Also, he sleeps so well with his naps, that I have to go wake him up to feed him. If any of you are interested in the book, it is called "On Becoming Baby Wise" by Gary Ezzo and Robert Bucknam, M.D. But yay for me and Casey! Now we get to sleep!

Loved by his cousins

Anytime we are around Braxton, Damon, and Kylie, they all want to see Gavin and give him hugs and kisses. Gavin doesn't mind...he loves all the attention! Braxton and Damon giving Gavin kisses.

Smiley Baby!

Gavin started smiling about a week ago, but this week, he has been smiling so much! He is happiest right after he is done eating. I can just sit there for hours smiling at him. He is also starting to coo, which is so adorable!

Gavin and his swing

Gavin loves spending time in his swing. If he isn't tired, I can just put him in there and he loves looking around. If he is tired enough, it doesn't take long before he is fast asleep.
