Good news, bad news

We had some good news and bad news at our doctor appointments this week.  On Tuesday, we had two doctor appointments at Primary Children's in Riverton.  I love that they have that extension there, so much closer!  I love how it looks like a shopping mall of doctors offices.  There is a big waiting room down the middle, and then on the sides are the different specialists' offices.  We visited our Cardiologist there, and then walked down the hallway to the ophthalmologist.   Good news is Liam's eyes are looking great!  We put contacts in both eyes, and so he can now see!!  We have a vision therapist coming tomorrow to help him learn how to use his eyes now.  He is enjoying his new world around him, but he hasn't been tracking objects, or made eye contact with me yet.  Hopefully soon!  Here he is playing in his little toy.  He can lay here for a while just watching all the colors around him!

The not so great news is that he still has Pulminary Hypertension, so that means he's not off his oxygen.  They will check him again in three more months.  Darn!  The cardiologist didn't hear the small VSD, but he could hear the medium sized ASD.  Not the news we were hoping to hear, but it isn't terrible either!

2 months

Our little boy just turned 2 months!  He is the best baby, so good and sweet.  At 2 months, Liam:

-weighs 7 lbs 2 oz
-20 inches long
-sleeps 8-10 hours a night and naps great
-he had a hard time nursing, but we worked on it and now he does great
-loves his baby swing
-he's a tough little guy. He has gone through 2 surgeries, gets 4 different eye drops every 3 hours, got the Synagis shot, plus his 2 months immunization shots and is on oxygen every night.
-has the craziest hair we love.  He's starting to bald but what hair he does have keeps getting longer

Tummy Time

We had our first visit from Kids on the Move this week.  Our homework is to get him working on his floppy neck by doing tummy time.  Look how strong this little boy is!

 Oh!  Such hard work!

Recovering

Liam has done so well after his surgery!  He has had to wear an eye patch over his eye so he wouldn't scratch or rub it.  I love taking it off and letting him look around.  Everything is still blurry, because they just took out his lens, but I can tell he loves being able to see finally!

My better half

I just have to state publicly how much I am grateful for Casey.  He has been a rock through this whole ordeal.  I love how every big doctor's appointment, he takes off work and comes with me (that is how we go on dates now).  He has been so great to take care of the other kids when I'm taking care of Liam, or take Liam when I need sleep.  He has been very positive about Liam's future and it is exciting talking to him about what our future with Liam will be like.  He's back to work early mornings, and doesn't complain when I want to go to the United Angels support meetings or go out with girlfriends and he needs to sleep, but lets me go while he takes care of the kids.  I'm so glad I get to spend forever with this guy!
