Summer can come now...

Well, now that school is out and we have our projects done, we can now fully enjoy summer!

We learned from last summer, that we don't get anything done in the yard during the summer.  Casey works long hours, and I am trying to get out and enjoy summer as much as I can. So this year our goal was to get our projects done before summer, so we could enjoy the summer and just try to keep up with the yard.  Our first project was the area by the sandbox.  When we moved in, it was all weeds by the sandbox because the sand would get on the grass and kill it.  So we took out the weeds, laid compost down, planted a few plants and it looks much better...

Our next project was the garden...we planted peas, beets, carrots, tomatoes, green peppers, a big pumpkin seed, cucumbers, zuccini an squash...hopefully they all live.

Project 3 was partially thanks to the country club.  They came in and took out our chain link fence and put this beauty in...they also killed all our plants in the process (we luckily were able to save our grape plants).  So anyway, we took out all the landscaping tarp and Casey pulled out about 8 huge railroad ties that were buried in the ground and we brought in compost.  We are going to plant some fruit trees here.

Project #4 was a big one!  This area next to our driveway use to be full of big tall weeds.  Every year Casey would get out and mow and weed wack this area, but we finally decided to till it all and bring in loads of compost and hopefully we'll keep up with the weeding.

And finally, I had to plant some flowers.  The end.  We ended up bringing in 14 loads of compost, 4 flats of flowers and many hours...maybe we can relax...probably not.

The boys have been keeping entertained and playing while we worked...they have loved their slide...

 And the water...

Summer here we come!  Now we can enjoy going out and doing things together!
